• A Word About The Fairies…

In Spring, Summer, and Fall you will find a variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers, pumpkins, and of course “the wolf” in the garden.

But you will also find fairies.

Slowly, over time, our garden has become filled with hidden fairies. And while some may find their presence a bit odd…I have loved having them in the space, and have no plans to evict them. 🙂

One day, when I noticed I had more than a handful hiding among my flowers, I got inspired to paint a little sign on a large piece of driftwood I found on the beach, close to our home. The sign seemed only fitting, and it always gets a laugh when guest come over.

The presence of the fairies also inspired a few gnomes, and other creatures to arrive…

Aica and I love to sit outside together on warm evenings to admire the scenery. I’m excited to being growing all that I have planned for the garden this spring/summer (more to come on that) but figured the fairies needed their own dedicate post, as they are big part of what inspires this weird little online space.

When the number of oddities began to increase in our garden, a good Irish friend of mine reminded me of the rich history fairies have in Irish folklore and mythology.

Fairies are believed to dwell in the sidhe, or fairy mounds, scattered throughout the Irish landscape. These mounds serve as portals to the otherworld, where time flows differently. There are many Irish legends of mortals stumbling upon these enchanted realms.

I sometimes feel like time moves differently in our own garden. Its a perfect little escape where nothing that bad can happen to you, so long as the wolf is by your side and you can see little wings and twinkle lights.

    xxx,
